About Yas

A passion for women's wellbeing stems from several years of personal and professional experience within, and outside of the complimentary therapy field.

Since 2019, I dedicated myself to bodywork and wellbeing to complement my interest in helping others struggling with modern conditions. I qualified in Level 3 and 4 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy at London School of Massage, complimenting this with a certificate in Level 3 Reflexology and Lymphatic Drainage courses with Elemental School.

Over this time, I have seen and understood many difficulties we face with our health and how contemporary life affects our bodies ability to heal at a natural pace.

As such - I hope to remind women to be comfortable in their own skin and hold space for themselves amongst the fast paced lives we lead.

Listening, empathy and understanding is also a key part of building a rapport with my clients. I like to set a high standard for what a professional mobile therapist looks like and the ability to allow you to relax and also be open is an important part of the journey.

Don't just take my word, see the kind feedback i've received over the past few years!

Bodywork

Bodywork involves understanding a process or approach to enable you to connect with your body.

As massage has evolved from the East to West, we understand that the body has many pressure points that connect with our meridian circuitry.

Reflexology usually is focussed around the feet, hands and head as part of the Ancient practice. ‘Reflexes’ worked on in those areas correspond with the nervous makeup of the body including its organs and systems.

We could also consider areas of the body to be gateways into the soul, especially through the breath. Where the breath flows to, or doesn’t flow to is indicative of points on the body where energy is stuck and we can tap into those points to help release blockages.

Presence in the here and now is the ultimate healing tool, something as a therapist I attempt to achieve in each session.

How does massage help the body?

Here's a step-by-step guide on the power of healing massage at a deeper look.

Touch

Positive touch has an immediate effect on relaxing the body and mind through the Vagus nerve. It lowers your heartbeat, allowing your parasympathetic nervous system to enable itself against the 'fight or flight' response of daily life.

Engaging Muscles or Fascia

Through touch we engage with the muscles and layers of the skin to untangle the fibres that are tightly wound together. As such, this allows us to release emotional energy as well as physical energy - circulation is boosted allowing nutrients to flow and waste products to exit the body.

Circulation

The blood circulation as well as lymphatic is activated. This permits the travel of blood and lymph (immunity boosting cells) around the body and thus allowing oxygen to reach cells to then renew and replenish.

Heart

Slowing your heart rate down means we are lowering the pressure at which it is operating under and pushing blood around. This results in lowering stress levels physically and emotionally that can have an impact in both the short and long term depending on how often you take time for your wellbeing.

Oxidative Stress

When we say lowering physical stress, we mean the stress that has undergone in your body on a cellular level. Your cells become damaged through 'stress' and you are less likely to operate as well. The first few steps have outlined how the benefits of massage come into play, and as a result on a micro level you have become more balanced.

Brain

By improving blood flow and activating the nervous system the brain's function is stimulated. Attention, memory and cognition is improved and happy chemicals are released into the body. The benefits are almost endless as you can find improved sleep and productivity.
